The School of Shamanic Midwifery (SSM) is a Women’s Mysteries School for midwives and doulas, a gathering of wise women, a year long Earth based ‘religious’ experience. It will awaken in you a deeper connection to the cycles - the way of life - and enable in you a range of ancient and traditional skills and tools to serve women and the birth process. The School of Shamanic Midwifery is based in Australia and is given and co-ordinated by Jane Hardwicke Collings, Homebirth Midwife, Mother, Grandmother. Jane has apprenticed with many great teachers – Maggie Lecky Thompson, Blackbear James Harvey and the late Jeannine Parvati Baker. She brings the experience of 25 years of homebirths and shamanic practice together and, as requested, presents what she has learnt and commits to helping facilitate those who are interested on their journey toward being Shamanic Midwives.

The School of
Shamanic Midwifery presents:

Red Tent Dreaming:
A Celebration of Sacred Space for Women

featuring the Australian premiere film screenings of
“Things We Don’t Talk About:
Women's Stories from the Red Tent”

Join us for a sumptuous afternoon of celebration and sisterhood as we re-create the "red tent" experience of coming together as women in sacred space.
This special event is open to all women who wish to reclaim the wisdom, nurturing and practice of honouring our cycles and seasons.
We will sit in sacred circle, sharing, crafting and re-membering.  We will nurture ourselves with beauty, ritual and healing.
We will celebrate with song and dance and delicious food!
As evening arrives, we will open our space to welcome more sisters and together we will gather to watch a premiere screening of the film

"Things We Don’t Talk About: Women's Stories from the Red Tent"
A Question and Answer session will follow the film, supported by a panel of local women's mysteries teachers in each city.

This is a workshop for anyone working around birth who wants to take a deeper look at themselves and those they are working with and take it to a whole new level. renee adair, Founder and Principal of The Australian Doula College

The BKI filled the gaps that were missing in my midwifery, doula and counselling training. - Jan Gatti

I learned what it means to be a Birth Keeper, respecting a women’s life experiences, whatever they maybe, to help her be conscious of her journey so that her experience can be one of healing. Jenny Schellhorn

The BirthKeeper intensive (BKi) workshop is a journey into the role and responsibilities of everyone who holds the space for a birth to unfold.

Birth has always and will always be a spiritual experience, one that takes all involved deep within themselves revealing their inner workings – to meet their beliefs, attitudes and fears, conscious or not, that configure their experience. every woman will have her ‘potential’ birth experience - that holds the teachings for this point in her life journey.

The role of the BirthKeeper can be to facilitate the transformation that ‘wants to happen’ at this time for women

The Deepenings

The Deepenings

"The Deepenings are a program exclusively for students and graduates of The School of Shamanic Midwifery, at this stage there are 3 per year. Their aim and purpose is to go deeper on subjects introduced during the Four Seasons Journey and for the women to go deeper within themselves on their personal journeys. Jane has invited her own teachers from across the decades as well as others, both Australian and International, who are working in related and complimentary fields to the practice of the shamanic midwife, to facilitate these weekend workshops."
